Red, White and Brown facilitates substantive conversations about current events and cultural issues through the lens of South Asian American race and identity — via journalism, social media and events. This newsletter is just one of those means to engage with you, the community.
South Asian Americans have been undercovered and underrepresented in a complex way in the news media. We recognize that is a gap, but there are others solving that problem.
The gap we are tackling is a place for people to process the news, understand how it impacts them and provide ideas about how they want to see themselves represented.
We believe in representing a diversity of South Asian American experiences — and that includes diversity of geography, community/caste, family and thought. We recognize South Asian communities, spaces and conversations can look different on the U.S. coasts compared to their presence in smaller or mid-sized cities.
At the end of the day, we’re journalists and believe in accuracy and fairness.
Please share feedback and ideas anytime (redwhiteandbrownmedia@gmail.com), and learn more about Red, White and Brown Media on our projects website.
We’re always listening. Let’s have some conversations.
